I have a new holley street avenger carb on my SBC now. On the road it runs like a raped ape but as soon as I try to climb with it it bogs, stutters, and will try to die. I heard that holley makes a part to fix this. Anybody have any input on this?

I don't know alot about holleys, but a friend of mine was having this problem with his truck last week and he adjusted the float level and now it runs fine.

They make an off road kit for it you can get through Jegs or Summit. That's why most guy's here don't run Holleys, the fuel starvation problem.
Get a good Quadrajet from Jet or someone, problem solved.

It's probally not a fuel starvation problem...
It' probally flooding out the carb with too much gas when you get an any sort of angle.
You can order up the holley off road kit.
You can also just cut some 3/8" hose and extend the vent tubes.

I'd try first just taking out the sight plug (on the passangers side of the 2 carb float bowls) and seeing how much fuel runs out...
For the street a little fuel is supposed to slosh out when the fuel pump is on or when the engine is running.
If you're gonna take it off road... adjust the fuel level 1/4" or a little more below the sight plug... bust out your straight screwdriver and 5/8" wrench and loosen the screw lightly and turn the 5/8" nut on the top of the float bowl clockwise to lower the float bowl fuel level. Seems like it's necessary to check this and maybe set it before going wheeling so you don't have these problems.

yep Ryan is right! Your dumping too much fuel in. Lower the floats and it will be ok. I have a 650 double pumper on my Jeep that I did the same thing to.

No prob.

You don't even have to wait till the weekend... it takes aobut 2 minutes to do.
