I found a Holley Projection intake and throttle body for sale. Are they any good? It's listed as a 1989-1995 setup, but I have no idea why it wouldn't work for 1987-1988. Are they a direct replacement for OEM?

I know nothing of the intake itself, but while they say '87+, that looks like the older intake bolt pattern (two center bolts same angle as all others), but maybe that's just a generic photo.

Other than that I see no reaosn it wouldn't work, pricey intake, but if the right price...

I really don't care either way about the intake. I have a GMPP Vortec TBI intake I will be using any way.

IIRC the GMPP Vortec TBI intake would need to be bored out to the bigger Holley throttle blades, same as if you run a BB TBI.

I've tuned a few of the Holley TBI and they are fine, the bonus is the bigger bores similar to a BB TBI, the drawback is the injectors are not as good as GM BB injectors.

Yeah, I was planning on boring out the intake, so that is not a big deal. My plan was to just run a 454 throttle body. Which is better?

Either GM or Holley TB are the same. GM Injectors are better. Always have your injectors serviced. I use Mr Injector. After 30-50 sets I've seen increase in flow from 2-3% to 8-9% and some have 2% on one and 9% on other.

Usually even a used holley does not have throttle blade shaft wear because it's newer or used as replacement to OEM. But even some high mile auto trans GM TBI are still fine. Manual trans TBI shafts are always worn.... I know sounds weird but think about it... :doah:

Well it's only $200 for the throttle body, intake, and an MSD distributor, so I think it would be silly not to buy it, but I could be wrong.

The only one I know of is a good unit and will fit 87 up... like this:

Now the TBI is differant 87-88-89, but still works on 90-91 Suburban/Blazer

90 up trucks

and you have to be careful it's not a 4.3L which is still 670 CFM and looks identical but smaller injectors.

How much?
i wonder if thats what i did, ill have to check on the numbers and see what i got.
