Anyone have any info them?

I'm looking at a 502-6 that has 80 lb injectors and needs 18 PSI. I'm more interested in long term use, issues, break downs blow ups and the like. :eek1:

I've heard nothing but bad stuff on the Holley TBI's. Specifically their injectors suck.

Well that's good news. I just got off the phone with Holley and the tech comfirmed the injectors did suck which is why they changed them to a new design that requires 18 PSI. I wish I had more data on the new stuff.

You can probably get some info over on thirdgen.org. Either in their TBI forum or their vendor review or whatever its called forum. :)

They have a pretty big group of folks over there.

The new ones do not require 18psi. Their injector rating is stated at 18-20psi. The instructions are on line at their web-site and they state 10 or 11psi for a stock 350.
For the price I think you are better off finding one of the companies that boar out your stock Rorchester.
Check out Morse Machine: http://www.rvmorsemachine.com/product.htm
They have a nice looking unit for $189 after core return. You use your stock injectors and pod.

The tech was very clear about the website being wrong and what a poor effert the website is. This is going on a crate 383.

I was told by a tech the 454 75# injectors are to much for a 383. He said a high pressure pump, a variable pressure regulator, 520 cfm high flow TBI and 61 lbs injectors will work best.

Stupid question maybe? I'm new to the tbi seen. I have an older Holley TBI 670cfm sitting on the shelf in my garage. Will these newer injectors work with an older unit? Any design change for the better injectors?

Well, I'm learn more as this goes along, but it appears there isn't anything new about the holley injectors. They seem to have just bump up the pressure spring in them.

I think I might have a lead on some stock 65# that replace the discontinued 68# cop motor injectors. We'll see.

If that is the case then I'm more then likely to go with a high flow 590 5.7 base, the 65# injectors, a 16 or 18 lb spring and a high volume 255ltr/hr fuel pump.

Cool thanks. The previous owner of my truck put the Holley 670 tbi on but he ended up taking it off because it made it run too lean. I'm tempted to throw it back on to see how it runs for myself.

FWIW i'm running a 454 TBI unit (670cfm) with the stock injectors that were flow tested at 95 lb/hr @ 20 psi IIRC on my HOT 355. A 383 is going to require the larger TBI unit (670cfm) and also a much larger injector than a 61 lb/hr if you want the full potential of the engine.

I forgot to add, if you go with a larger injector than stock YOU WILL have to have a chip made so that the injector dwell time is adjusted accordingly.

Thanks Scott.

Based of your input along with others and information from Brian I'm going to go with the 620cfm, 454 injectors 78-93, a new pump and spring. The motor is rated at 345/385 but they don't say with what induction system. I believe those numbers are from the stock 5.7l TBI in the 96-02 trucks this crate motor was intended to replace.

If that's the case I'm hoping that my choice of TBI/Injector/header/muffler will get me those numbers.
