Holy Grail Pickup

On another tread about Dodge and cummins, it was stated the '98 was the Holy Grail, soooo,,,, What year is the Holy Grail for GM?
 
I say 1980, because the trucks with a TH350 got the NP205 again, vs the POS 203 that was used for most of the 70's.
 
for me: 77-80, round headlights, 454/t400/205/D60.
Others would say 91...w/4L80E
 
K5s Id say 91....

Newest so least chance of gawdawful rust...and TBI 350
 
I think for everyone its going to be a different truck.

For me there are a couple. 73 blazer with a 4 speed and 205 Cheyenne model. But the kicker here is without the factory hard top.

Then there is always the 91 v3500 crew cab dually automatic 4l80-205.

That one is probably the hardest one to find. More than likely the lowest production numbers on that 91.

This is of course from the perspective of building the truck to wheel. If the SFA doesnt matter to you then personally I like 95s.

If not to wheel, 95? I'd definitely go 99 on burbs and tahoes, 98 on truck. 96+ gets you the vortec. Just don't expect much from a high mileage ifs front suspensikn

I like the OBS trucks better than the OBS-NBS aka the NBS trucks with the more rounded OBS front end..

That being said I like 95s because...

New interior

Still TBI, because lets face it while vortec heads are awesome and vortec injection is great when its working, when its not its a pain in the ass and can be very expensive **cough spyder injectors cough**
