Holy Pipe Fittings Batman!!!!!

yes that is it for sure!!!!! the threads are not tapered. i have one hole on each manifold towards the front of the manifold.

Yep. Weld it. :saweet: :weld:

If the tube is still in it, just cut it, pinch it closed and weld the end.

it is really loud with the one open, almost like a have an open header!!!!!. i also broke one bolt on each side of the manifolds where they connect to the down pipe. headers are going on probably next month i just want to plug this for now so i dont get pulled over, and so i can hear my radio in the truck!! lol

Probably not pipe thread, then. Is the thread tapered? \ /
If it's not, then it's not pipe thread. Probably some crazy flare-fitting thread that GM dreamed up so people wouldn't disable their A.I.R. systems. :D

uh, pipe threads are tapered too.

Uh, you need to read and comprehend better.

I said: if the threads are NOT tapered, then it's NOT pipe thread. Pipe threads are the only threads that ARE tapered.

yea here is a pic of it. you can see the massive hole that i need to fill

I've plugged off a bunch of AIR pump tubes..

One person suggested cutting the tube and welding it shut--thats how I do it when I cant find the right "plug" that will screw in..I use side cutters or bolt cutters to snip the tube,it leaves the cut ends neat and ready to accept a weld, or I braze them shut...or I take the tube out of the fitting, and tap threads inside it where the tube was,to fit some size pipe plug or bolt I have handy..I've brazed small freeze plugs over the end of those tubes too, after sawing them off too--any way that works,right??...

GM went to inverted flare metric fittings on TBI trucks--older carbed motors that had the 8 small "flute pipes" can be corked off with 1/4" NPT pipe plugs--the original threads were STRAIGHT 1/4" pipe threads, but the NPT plugs go in with a little persuasion..those with the 2 big tubes need a bit of tinkering to plug off, they are a weird size, thats when I reach for the welder, torches,or taps!...

I've got a set of those manifolds here, with a factory plug in the hole for the AIR pipes.

I don't need the manifolds, so i'll see if I can get the plug out without wrecking it. If so, you're welcome to have it for the cost of the ride down there!
