home brew bumper question

im building my own bumpers the question is i cut off the *rocker* panels behind the back tire and in front of the front tires should i build the bumpers to fill this or leave it empty for clearance or use tube under there to protect whats left and provide more clearance???

If you wheel it hard I'd say get the tubes under what remains of your fenders. More clearance is always nice but you'll never have enough. When I ran mostly mud I didn't protect the corners and never had a problem. If your into rocks you need the armor.
