I started building a sandblasting cabinet today out of a 55 gallon drum. I saw the idea on another forum I was looking at. So far all I did today was cut the hole for the window, and welded in a frame that the glass is gonna go in. I will get some pictures as soon as i get a hold of my girlfriends camera. I am gonna use a pressure pot for the blasting part and the drum for the cabinet. What do you all think of the idea. One pluss is that it will be made in the U.S.A :usaflag:

yep. great idea! :thumb: i've got a 55 gallon drum laying around... hmmmm.

I got 2 pictures for starters the first of the virgin drum and the second is the hole I cut in it for the window. I still need to make metal patch pieces to close up the sides.

I built one of these a while back. I used toilet bowl flanges for the arm holes, harbor freight sandblast gloves, home depot gun, and scrap metal. The hinge for the door was one of the hinges from my old blazer tailgate. I hook up my shop vac to a port on the one side, and have a small hole on the other side to get good airflow. Here is a pic.

I know I haven't posted anything on this in a while but I have the need to keep going on this project. I need to sandblast stuff so I have to finish it. I picked up a perfect stand for it and it makes me want to finish it. I got the legs from a bbq all I have to do is brace them up and the drum will sit perfect on it. Will get new pics up soon. Sorry I stopped the build.
