So after watching the video in the thread on the top gear episode about the toughest truck in America, i had a crazy thought.

The guy in the dodge actually had a pretty cool idea. Using 2x4's, and plywood, one could build a relatively cheap, and lightweight camper on the back of a pickup or blazer. With shelter, a bed, maybe some storage bins, and all that jazz.

What got me thinkin was even if you insulated it, if you went wheeling in some place like alaska youd still need to heat the sucker. how bout thinking of it like a ice fishing shack, and using a small wood stove???

saw some stuff online about repurposing a worn out propane tank from a gas grill, and turning it into a wood burning stove.

not sayin imma do this any time soon, or ever, just a random brain misfire, just wondering what others think.

Awesome, here is some inspiration (or what it would look like if I tried something like that) :dunno: :dunno:

Really, for the effort you would put in, find a slid in camper on craigslist. Bet you could find one for free.

Start with that, and modify as needed. You'd be miles ahead of building your own.....

Remember, what make's 'em real Chalets is that second set of matching tail lights. Otherwise, they're just a li'l house on a truck... :D
