do you guys think a hog trough from tractor supply would be a good tank(or to thin?),maybe w/pipe welded thru and thru(maybe make it like a ''u'' to blow a flame thru to heat the ''acid''?

or use my fish fryer to heat it(but how would i keep it from burning trough up?) also use a small motor on a fabbed mount w/ a 1/2'' thick plate cut round, bored off center(like cam lobe) too fit the motor shaft, to create a vibration in the fluid(kinda like a big jewlery cleaner, vibrating?)

also, what kind of "acid" and best place to get it? something that would work good, but readily available, and no special permits to obtain....

i worked at a machine shop once and our "acid" was water that we put some sort of pellets in. it would strip almost everything, except grease! it was huge tank with pipe welded thru the walls on both sides, and it blew a flame thru the pipe to heat the fluid and had a vibrating basket to put parts in,it worked great.

any better ideas for a tank? maybe make my own? 2 1/2-4'x8' 3/16'' or 1/4'' sheets of plate would make a 2'dx4'wx8'L tank(i want it big enuff for axle housings and engine blocks), and the heavy metal, i think it would stand up to my fish fryer under it. any input welcomed and thanks ahead of time!

any pics or links to home made stripper baths?:deal::bow:

pole or not, i want one. As long as it comes with a stripper

I have heard that the acid for pool cleaning works well. I never tried it though.

Don't use muriatic acid which is hydrochloric mixed with water, it will take some of the metal with it.

You can pickle steel using phosphoric. I think that the best way to proceed is to make friends with a shop that does acid dipping of auto parts. Buy some from them after learning the correct way to do it.
