Honestly, are OEM weather strippings better then LMC?

I need to replace my bedrail seals and the cab to topper seals.

LMC has them for 30bux a piece X 4. So thats 120bux.

The same seals from Dealer are $323 OTD.

I dont mind paying for quality, but damn thats a big difference. I dont know if SoftSeal has these and they would still be aftermarket.

Yes, the fit and finish of anything factory is allways better then aftermarket stuff.

Did you check GMpartsdirect.com with the GM numbers?

The local dealer will usually be at least 25% higher on parts, if not moreso. Most don't understand good business practice.

I think everyone knows my opinion of the quality. :)

Here are the pics I sent to LMC...the old ones are of course GM pieces:

Note the extra material at the top of the LMC seal, I assumed "universal" so it fits all trucks '73-91 or something. (don't know, as I only have '81+ parts) Now I think just poorly copied.

Hmm, the opposite ends in the first picture are correctly aligned, something really wrong with this end! :)

Just a bit shorter!

Pretty much all the LMC stuff for weather stripping is junk. My friend spent quite a bit of money getting all of the rubber from LMC for the resto of his 79 K5. A year later and he has just as many if not more leaks than my 80 with all original, worn out rubber.

GM Parts Direct is the only place to get them... only ones they didn't have when I ordered mine were the tail gate ones, I paid $80 for a set at Curt Warner here in Vancouver, didn't even include a reach around

For reference, the door seals were $26 and shipping versus $40 + tax at the dealer :eek1:

My top seals are junk but it doesn't leak so I didn't replace them(or price them).

GM Weatherstriping

I'm getting ready to do the doors on my '71 and was wondering if anyone had the correct P/Ns for all door window and window seals for this truck. I will be ordering thru GMdirect.
Thanks Dan

i bought the tail gate seals over 10yrs ago and still have it in the box. it was something like 60 bucks back then from the dealer. I'm planning on some day using it when the seals on the truck go bad.

wish now I had bought all of the other seals. Great photos showing the LMC stuff. I was going to get this and save some cash now I'm not so sure.
