Hood latch broke

So the hood latch broke, how do I get my hood open with out destroying my grill trim?

If it's broken right by the handle, I wonder if you could cut the cable jacket and get some vice grips on the cable.
 
The worst case if you cannot access those two bolts, drop the inner fenders and unbolt the back of the hood from the firewall hinge. Then you can raise the hood from the back and stick a screwdriver into the back of the latch to push the lever where the cable attaches. I have had to do that on a few parts trucks.

@cheavyk10 and I talked about that but I have a bunch of stuff bolted to the inner fender, but that would work for a lot of people.
 
I was told the lmc latch is crap and the dorman was the way to go. We shall see. I would rather have a good used factory unit @kennyw do you have any used ones?

I bought a nos latch for my truck and there were plenty available then.
Here’s one that says truck but verify part numbers.
