Well the hood latch finally stoped working.
since i bought the truck and when the P.O. had the truck we ended up using shims made out of cardboard, that finally stoped working.
i was up at autozone getting brakes for my moms car and someone wanted to see the engine bay so i opened the hood.went to shut it,didnt latch.the problem is no one makes a hood latch for a 78 blazer.needs some advise.

Thanks

There is also the option of spending 25.00 for a full site membership. That way you can post up in the "Parts Wanted" section for a latch. Probably far cheaper than giving LMC Truck 37.44 plus shipping for a new unit and you'll have the bonus of all forum access.

Long as your aware there's no "asking" for parts in the Garage, asking for advice is ok.

What he said. I've gotten parts from guys here that wanted nothing but shipping costs for those parts. One man's junk is another man's treasure.

Yeah I am fully aware of that, I have been around here long enough.

I guess it just depends on what you're looking for. I can see someone sending him a hood latch for next to nothing. Smaller parts like that don't generally command much of a price. The parts I've gotten for free are usually small stuff like a door trim piece or radio knobs, etc. But it's not that uncommon.

There's a whole section of forum for people offering just that...free stuff!

Here's a taste of one of the first listings in the Free/Trade/Misc forum for you guys who can't see it from Stoney126:

free half top
free half top in decent shape, come and get it before the wife kills me. It is white

Heck I had a member send me a front and rear set of Bilstein shocks that had less than 3,000 miles on them for free because they were for a stock truck and he couldn't use them. He even refused to take payment for the shipping!

One hell of a great brotherhood being a member :D

id go with hood pins, that cable will keep on stretching out and makes it a pita when your frame is twisting to pop the hood, i got some autofab ones from poly performance
