how do i adjust that. I looked at it and couldn't make sense of an easy way. Please help. I'm not a body man. It looks so loose it looks like it would blow open if not for the safety latch. Thanks

Sound as if your latch bolt pin (looks like a cone with a slot in it) is too far out. Or it counld be that the hood bumpers on each side are twisted out to high. They should be on the radiator support. Idealy to set your hood height back the bumpers all the way down. Then adjust the latch pin on the hood to latch just above the radiator support. The gab will vary but usually in a quarter inch or less. Once you get this done the hood should rock back forth from left to right, just adjust the bumpers up to where it touches the hood to prevent the rocking. Finally once you get the hood to stop rocking then you can adjust the bumpers to level out the hood. Trial and error process so you will have close the hood a few times.

This is interesting. What if it is fine at the front but the rear corners sit below the fender/cowl? There's no stops back there. Do I need to loosen the hinges and see if they will slide up?

thanks for the great post

I will look into that tommorow. It looks good from the front, but about 12" back is where it looks open. Can't wait to tackle it tommorow.

12" back? Sounds like you have the "bent hood" option. I've seen these hoods bend from lack of lubrication in the hinges. You reach up to close the hood and it bends at the crumple zone. Once it's bent the structure is weakened. No real fix for it. You can straighten it but it'll bend again.

i will take a pic of it

2nite and post it. I've had them with bent hoods before, this one isn't like those. Not saying it isn't, but it isn't visible while it is raised up and there are no creases. It might not be 12" back I'll have to measure, but it always looks like it is going to fly open and the only thing holding it down is the safety latch, but upon inspection it is latched and it looks perfect from the front.

There IS a repair kit available for this but if it were me i would start with buying a different hood then fix the sticky hinges. You might think the hinges aren't sticky until you remove them, bead blast them, spray with WD40 and THEN you will understand how sticky the hinges were. Trust me on this.
