Hi all I am looking for ideas for a hood lock for our trucks.
My truck got ransacked and looking for better solutions. thanks.

I tried to find a ghetto pic of a car with a chain wrapped around the whole hood, but I failed.... :doah:  :haha:

the chain/padlock behind the grill was always pretty common back in the day when worked/lived in the ghetto.. but I gotta figure that's a rattly nuisance...

maybe some fancy hoodpin style ones with the ring key tops or something..

sorry, I'm pretty useless..... :doah:

Chain or cable with a lock.

yeah, my 68 is like this
I don't hear any rattling, too far away and close to the engine to hear it
but if you do hear it, there are rubberized chains and pad locks out there too

I've seen some pin style locks out there. It's a pin mounted to the core support, with a barrel type key set up mounted to the hood. Yes, this takes drilling a hole in the hood. I've only seen them on offroad rigs, both steel and fiberglass.

A person could just relocate the pull end of the release cable to a hidden or secret location, and leave a non working dummy cable in its place. Or drill a hole in the J hook on the hood and put a padlock on it if you can get your hands in there.

I will look at the tuffy lock. thanks to all that posted...
I am still picking up pieces of my dash bezel off the floor.
It tuff to find a 74 no ac dash bezel.

Lock the doors :dunno:

Locking your doors will do no good on the early models. There is NO cable.

When I wrote that I was under the assumption he was talking about a 1977 model which would have a hood release cable.
