Hood problems

So I went to try to change the oil on my Jimmy today and when I pulled the hood lever, I heard a sound like a snap, and nothing happened. I pulled it many more times and nothing. I think the cable might have snapped, so is there any way of opening up the hood without damaging it?

Vice grips on the end of the snapped cable. Start digging, I'm not sure what panels you'll have to take off to get to it. Good luck and welcome.

From what I have heard here, you can pry the hood up enough to get a socket on the bolts that hold the latch to the core support and remove it.

So far that's the only thing I've thought about doing, but wanted to see other options before prying stuff open

The year might be helpful along with what size tires, license plate frames, the color of the interior and if you have one of those smelly trees hanging from the rearview.

Then I hit the proverbial nail on the head. I don't read the bible so I don't actually know if Jesus ever used that term although he was a carpenter from what I hear. But I don't actually think you'll find that passage in proverbs. So don't bother looking. Now go forth and fix yonder hood.

I don't mean to derail, but I swear, I went to AutoZone to pick up a Haynes manual for my truck. It was in the rack RIGHT THERE behind the counter. The dude sat down at his computer, asked all their stupid questions, went over to the rack and got it for me. Bunch of dimwits.

Don't want to make an enemy in your first ten posts..

I did have one ask me if my truck was gas or diesel once though,when I went in looking for spark plugs for my '79 C-10.....
..and I had asked him for R46ts AC plugs..

He insisted he look them up,"just to be sure" they were the right ones..

After he confirmed they were the correct ones,I asked him "just curious--what does the diesel take for plugs"?...

He went out back and returned with a box of glow plugs,opened it,and went "HUH!"..gee,they sure are DINKY,you'd think a diesel would have BIG spark plugs..and wow,they are TEN BUCKS EACH too!..

I had a hard time holding back my laughter till I got outside and in my truck..

You should have seen the kid at O'Reilly when I said I needed engine assembly lube. He asked what it was for, and I assumed that he was curious about what I was building. When I realized that he was trying to look up engine assembly lube by make and model, I kindly told him I was working on an 83 corvette.

That was a week ago. I think he's still looking it up...
