A while ago, there was a post by someone wanting an induction hood for a K5. (Yes, I did search but wasn't able to locate that post) At the time, I indicated I had seen some for a good price and would look for the catalogue/magazine I saw it in. I finally found it today. The web sight is airbagit.com. The store is in Mesa, AZ. The phone # 877-480-3793. They show steel cowl hoods for full sizes 73-02, S-10s, some Dodges and Fords. The rear of the scoop appears to be about 2". They also sell scoops for $79.00

Adding aftermarket hood scoops to a hood looks cheasy. Save your money ( about $ 300.00 ) and buy a hood with the scoop built in or forget-about-it.
Bolt on hood scoops will make you look like your IQ is below 70.

Well thanks for that - I'm sure RJPastor appreciates the kick in the nuts.

Also it is for a whole hood.

come on, those guys can do all sorts of stuff...fight in vietnam, moon the president, punch a black panther, own a shrimping boat, run fast and far, play football, do slutty hippy chicks and end up with a kid that sees dead people. and that was just one guy.

yes, bolt on, rivet on, etc is pretty hack... I have seen a few done tastefully with a weatherstrip/gasket, and of course you could section one into a glass hood... but generally most idiots load the joint with mud or something and starts to crack and fail in short order...

I may have been the one this post was for, as I've been talking about making a full function cowl hood, flapper and all... still up in the air as to whether I'm going glass or steel...

http://www.usbodysource.com/ has a good deal running on steel cowl hoods right now... normally 500, now 350.... that may be the route i take...

their hood scoops are metal and can be welded on.if done properly nobody would know it wasnt a 1 piece hood.

It's not the first time someone has tried to kick me there - didn't work this time either. I've NEVER seen a add on hood that looked like anything but s**t. I was interested in a HOOD since mine has a big bondo patch in the center. BTW, my IQ is around 156.

nice link ryoken but the shipping scares me how much is it running and what about the quality??

a hood from fla to me in joysey was like $100, $120 according to their chart...

the steel hoods look top notch.. i'd link to that particular page, but their site is kinda screwey.. in the menu to the left, they have "steel hoods on sale from $179" to get ya there...

I like the front fiberglass tilt setup. I don't care for the price, but I would love to set that up on mine.

well, obviously you've heard me yacking about it... I've strongly considering going with a pre-80 full tilt... 2 g's and under, I'd consider...

but as I've thought about it, I'm really torn.. in my case, my dual 27's are in the PERFECT spot if I was to go tilt.... but not only would it affect any bumper stinger work, but i would have to change my electronics box mounting/location/setup.. not to mention the need to run wheelwells, onboard air stuff, welder, etc...

in other words, it's trick, would be pretty badarse with a functional airbox, etc, but in the end I'm thinking I'm just gonna get an all steel clip.. and mod that Goodmark cowl hood for an airbox/flapper... think I'm gonna order it this weekend, and I think I'll go for the pre 80 clip...

my truck is already pretty "custom", gotta draw the line somewhere.. :doah::crazy::haha:

I have never seen custom work on your truck.:haha:

I think it would be a lot of fun, but it doesn't really fit with the external stock look I want to keep. But, I do need a new hood, and the price of that steel cowl hood is pretty good. I do like the look of the single cowl hoods on the 80 and older clips.

i just like the styling better on the old clip.. from the front line of the hood, to the fact it goes all the way to the window... i hate the look of the post 80 cowl....

i am a fan of cowl hoods, especially since will mine will see street 75% of the time....

Mine has become a mix of towing the trailer and wheeling. With the cost of fuel, I really can't afford to drive it much anymore. On the plus side, the run to Oregon netted out 13 MPG towing the trailer. Not bad for an ancient vehicle.

I like the cowl hoods on the older style, mainly because the cowl comes all the way to the window, like you said. It just doesn't look right to have the cowl come back and then end before getting to the windshield. But that may be the old school design in me coming out.
