Has anyone done anything to strengthen the hood, so that it can be laid/stood/kneeled/walked on without it folding... more? :doah:

Not so much on the walking part, but uh... "recreational use" is in mind... :D

Dude your rig came with a bed and you want to use the hood too?
:haha: :haha: :haha:

Wife? I don't even have a girlfriend! :haha:

Hells yes the hood too! If the roof of the cab were bigger... Actually, maybe is IS big enough...

Anyway, hood strengthening. Back on topic.

I ahve to jump on my hood to get it to close if that counts as walking. I know what you mean (I'm guesing I do anyways) cause mine folds really bad. And its gotten so bad that if I try close it noramlly by pulling on the middle, the entire hood just bends down. You can weld bars underneath to strenghten it. Ill probably do that once I get a new hood

ive walked on my hood at the edges. i don't feel like wading threw the mud to hook up the strap. ive thought about building a brace so i don't worry about folding it in.

as far as the recreation aspect. standing on the tool box using the roof works good also. the hood is just to high for me.

read the post dude... he's talking about making it more rigid so he can WALK on it.

At any rate, me thinks you need to take that bad boy to a body shop and have them roll some beads and use the dimple dies.

The hood already has some damage to it, but it's not enough to warrant replacing. I do appreciate the LMC information too, I'll look into that. :waytogo:

She's that big? I would try and find smaller recreation partners if they don't fit in the cab or on the roof.:haha:

haha i would sorta recommend spending a little less time on the internet researching ways to stiffen your hood and a little more time in the real world trying to find an attractive young lady who might know some ways to stiffen something else

It would take ALOT of bracing to make that large piece of sheetmetal hold up to someones weight. I have had to get up on mine, not in the middle, but the edges and the cowl to snap the softtop on and it was ok.

Are you offering to lend him a hand? :doah: :haha: :haha: :haha:

Ah, I see you are from Nevada...

Partners aren't hard to come by, but I'm looking for a specific one at the moment. :D I'd tell you to check the Pig Pen, but, well, you aren't paid up yet. :deal:

Get a room...

My 79 K5 has the LMC type strengtheners but I would never consider walking on the hood.

I smell an exo-cage. If you built an exo you could use the whole truck like a jungle jim.

Naw baby, that's just old bird droppings on the hood:haha:

Check out some Land Rovers to see what they've done. I'm sure it's a little more than just slapping some diamond plate on the hood.:D
