so the truck I got has a hood that won’t stay up or close.
It almost seems to hit the windshield wipers.....
There are no springs on the hindges is that normal for a 1975 gmc jimmy?
If I need new hindges what years will be a direct replacement for these or do they have good reproduction models available?
How do I know if the hindges are the issue or is there a ay to adjust them that I am not seeing?

Your 75 hood hinges need springs to stay up. That is half your problem.

The other half of your problem is either a bent hood or adjustment issues.

Yup, roundeyes have crappy hoods and hinges. I remove the springs to save the hood from creasing in the middle and the hinges from binding. Made a hoodprop out of 3/4" sch40 pvc.

The hood looks straight enough so any idea where would I find the springs in question?
Thanks

The springs may be missing if the hood is creased or cracked. If the mashed it straight and then took the springs off it could be hard to tell in a pic.

Open it and look at the inner sheetmetal. There are small indentations intended to buckle in a crash. It is very common for those hoods to bend there and at the forward edge of the hinge bracket. Look for local buckling and cracking in those locations on both sides.
