anyone running hooker competition headers? I'm finding them for under $160 shipped and that seems like a pretty good deal. unless they're junk.

I had to grind a little on the motor mount shell for mine to fit, other than that, they fit well and I like them. the collector is about an inch from the shackle too.

i just seen them for $175.00 in Vancouver BC i'm thinking of putting a pair on my 350 4x4.
Regards
Charlie

check ebay. found em for $135 plus $20 flat rate shipping. $155 to your door... helluva deal. ...soon as i sell this kidney those puppies are mine..

I just put a set on my '84 K5 Silverado w/ 4 inch lift... It was fairly easy, had to remove the bumpstop for the passenger side leaf spring and differential, and there is not room to put them back on but I think I'll be ok. I bought the headers from a buddy for $75, he was gonna use them and then he wrecked his truck so I got a pretty good deal on them! Ran 2.5 inch pipes back to some Raptor mufflers and they are dumping by the spring hangers right now.

Haven't got it running again yet, having ignition issues. there is a popping click noise everything 15 seconds when I hooked the batterey back up. Not sure whats going on there. Then I also have to get the dipstick tube back in and hook the plug wires back up in the correct order. I think I will have to make some boot protectors or something though cause it looks like the wires might burn up REALLY QUICK!

Any suggestions?

I have them on my 74k10 with 4" lift and love them, they are the best fitting header I have had on there yet. I have had blackjack, flowtech afterburner, and some miscellaneus brand and these headers were easy to install and work around as well as get to the plugs and I havent burned one of my standard accel plug wires in the last 5 or 6 years since I put them on. I have also not replaced my header or collector gaskets since I put them on and dont have 1 leak. I used percy's seal4good at the head and deadsoft aluminum gaskets at the collector. The ideal situation would be a ball-flange collector, but oh well. I also like that they had a 2.5" collector which is what my exhaust is.

A hooker for under $160.00 is cheap, she might be wore out though. :haha:

Seriously, Hooker headers used to be the best header you could buy back in the day. I have no idea on their quality today as i haven't used them in over 25 years.

And if your running ORD front shackles the bolt will eventually rub a hole in the collector due to the extra thickness of the bushins/plates.
