I pulled apart my column to replace my highbeam switch, low and behold my canceling cam is broken, and when i removed the locking plate it exploded into my lap.

OK, not a big deal order new one and a horn contact kit from lmc.

I get everything back together just fine, up until the horn contact, i understand i have to cut it down, but i figured before i mess with that i will take a bit of with and close the circuit and make sure its working, since i totaled my steering wheel puller.

nothing.:doah:

The only thing that didnt go back in was a small spring that looked to have fallen in and not been part of anything. i have power to the fuse, i checked that already.

what are your suggestions?

Also what do i do for a wire from the contact to the horn button?

edit- I didnt remove the plastic from the top of the canceling cam, bet thats it...

Fixed- i managed to lose the contact the hit the bottom of the canceling cam.

yea its my DD, so after the canceling cam exploded i had to put it back together and drive it while waiting on the new one. i figure the un attatched spring i found was supposed to be in there, i just cut down the contact that should have gone on top, and ran a wire into the new cam, works good for now.

Ya know they sell those cancelling cam thingies at Autozone... :waytogo:

Should be a small spring with a wire and a plastic tube looking thing with a pin type deal on one end, goes in the hole, twist, locks it in place, then the wire plugs onto the back of the horn button. Kind of a P.I.T.A. sometimes to get it all in there and locked into position,,,

Never heard of having to trim anything down to get them to work though.

No I didn't, last time i was in there they had to order me an AIR FILTER, so my failth in them is quite low at the moment.

The contact that was in the turn signal switch didnt have a locking spot anymore (its obvious that quite a few people have been in there before) and the instruction i got on the one contact from lmc told me to trim it to a certain length. Then for the under i was worried that it would be to tall to clear so i trimmed it enough so it would sit flush with the plastic when the spring was compressed.
