I’ve found a marginal board in our trailer today so it’s time to replace some flooring. The trailer is only 5’~5.5’ wide and the boards are under the side walls by about an inch, how do you go about replacing them? There’s not a lip that can be easily removed to release them and I’m thinking the boards aren’t long enough to bow in the middle to slide under. Suggestions?

Looks like there is a lip on the left side, but not the right.
They my have tucked the right side in, then laid it down, and welded the lip (looks like a piece of angle iron) over the top of the left side.

If thats the case, would probably have to grind the welds to remove the lip, replace the boards, then reweld it in place.

I ficedcone like that a lot of years ago. I cut all of the boards twice to remove them. Chain saw worked great. Welded a new piece of angle under one side. Slid the boards in one side and set them on the new angle. Then self tapping screwed them down.

Yes, it's a small 2 stall bumper pull.

I was afraid of what you guys are describing. that piece on the left side is a stick of rectangle tubing maybe 1/2"x1" and it runs the length of the trailer until it gets to the round front end. I was hoping for some kind of secret voodoo trick, I hate to cut that piece out but such is life. Booo!!!!

Thanks guys!

Almost looks like it's not welded the whole way.
Maybe stitched with paint rounding out the gap :dunno:. Might not be too bad to take out

Yeah, it's got a 2" stitch about every foot and it's welded to some vertical supports. I won't be horrible to cut out, I was just hoping I wouldn't have to.

You only need to remove about a foot of it off.
Once you have a piece in you slide in under the lip. Just a thought

if me i would pull floor and weld in a center bar down the trailer floor area so i could half the boards width and still screw each half in and bam next time is faster .

It looks like you could remove the boards by cutting a notch on the sidewalls in the tail . Them just slide them out put the ne boards in and use a couple of pieces of metal to seal the notches you just cut

I need to get under it and look at the structure, there’s a metal strip after every 4th board. I need to see if the 5th plus boards will slide under it or not.

I plan to replace all of the stall decking. The little tack room is only about 5-6 boards wide and looks new so I may not mess with that area.
