Well we just got back from the superlift park a couple hours ago. This was the first real big run for the truck and I got to wheel it on a few good trails and I ended up limping to the parking lot and loading it up on the trailer about 3/4 of the way through the first day. First off the new wheels and tires I bought a couple weeks ago. The wheels did great had no problems but the tires are junk and started falling apart. The right rear is the worst. It started just splitting and eventually chunks just started falling off the sidewall. The eventually the whole tread seperated. This happened as I got about half way up ingrids revenge. A tough 5 diamond. I got on the first big obstacle on ingrids revend which is just a big slap that is pretty steep. I hit the right side which is the steepest part. My front link bar got pulled forward again and the shackle folded over and broke the front link bar. I had already went on some other trails and came up some steep hills so I thought that making it 3" long was the fix for it. Of course when the shackle folded over it pulled the front driveshaft apart. Also right before the front driveshaft pulled apart my rear window shattered!! I had tried to hammer up the hill a couple times and I came to a complete stop. When I put it in reverse that is when the rear window shattered. I had hit a tree and smashed to side of the cab a bit so I am thinking it was just in a bind and that cause it to shatter. Anyways we still ended up having a great time!! Hit lots of 4-5 diamond trails and we ended up going about 30 miles between 2 days.
We had 5 rigs and on the suburban we bent a front leaf spring and lower u-bolt plate on the left side of the front axle. The blue jeep had one small problem with a bolt on the t-case causing it to leak and the black jeep had no problems at all and he followed us everywhere we went. The camo blazer with the orange roll cage had the crossmemeber under the motor bend and got into the harmonic balancer AGAIN!! So we got the fixed. Then the 2nd day of wheeling we was gonna hit one more 5 diamond trail and we noticed the right front wheel BROKE!! He bought them last year and they are supposed to USA6X6 internal beadlock wheels. Now to the pics.

Was coming up a hill after everyone else did and it was wet and got slick. Had to hammer on it pretty good and everytime I would the truck would slid into a tree on the driver side and managed to bend my spot light so now it dont flip up any more.

Whats left of the tire.

This one started coming apart. This is how the right rear started and the chunks just started getting bigger.

Also was coming up a trail and a tree that was on the ground got wedged between the toolbox and crossmember the gas tank is ratcheted to and managed to push up the tank, dent it up, and bent up the square tubing I put on the back to hold stuff. It broke the ratchet strap on the left side of the tank.

Broke front link bar used to control axle wrap. What I did to make it 3"s longer was just cut it and put a piece of 1" solid bar inside the 1.5" .250 wall DOM and just got another piece of 3" DOM and welded it all up. Well I guess when I welded it I did get good enough penetration and the weld broke. It wouldnt of broke if the shackle hadn't of folded over but it did.

Will post vides when we get them edited and I get a copy of them.

I still have the 49" michelins but they actually look more dry rotted than these do. I would of never expected these to do this. I think I am gonna look around and see if I can find some 46's. I am not sure yet. I do still have the 49's though.

Also the wheels look like they are 3/8" but the are flat. If you look at mine you can see they are stamped. So they are a lot stronger. Also he beats the piss out of that blazer. We bounced it HARD quite a few times.

any close up pics of the folded over shackle?...thats 1 thing that worries me about longer shackles...i have diy 6'' shackles for my front end, and was a little concrned about the lateral stability...they are pretty heavy/thick, but after they are all bolted up, i may weld in a cross link between the shackles!

oh, btw...that definitly qualifies as hammering on a rig :-)

I have a 7" shackles on my front leaf springs. That is not what messed up. I have a link bar on the front axle to control axle wrap. At the frame end it is mounted on a shackle because as the axle drops down it moves forward. Also it put a lot of stress on the link bar if it is hard mounted to the frame when the front tire get up against a 4 foot ledge I am trying to climb.

Those rim centers look like a bad idea from the get go. I am not surprised they broke where they did...I'm more surprised it didn't happen sooner to be honest.

The tire carnage has me speechless...any theories?

Can't really explain it but I've heard of this with the military "big truck" tires before. Guys having them just shred for unexplained reasons. The military got these in HUGE lots and they got stuck in the back of a warehouse for X number of years.

Try explaining to PFC Bonehead to rotate stock when he gets an order for some tires. He'll likely go and grab whichever he wants. So basically the stuff getting surplused might be brand new, in between, or oooolder than fook.

One guy over on Steel Soldiers mentioned getting a pallet of 9.00-20 NDT Deuce tires and 5 were like brand new and one was from the 70's.:dunno:
