Anyone ever put a hot water system on their vehicle? I've heard you can run radiator fluid around a tube that clean water passes through via pump, from a water source.

Is there a kit for this? Or all fab stuff? (Can't be hard)

My girl requests hot/warm water while wheelin/campin. :screwy: Not a necessity, but I have a freakin huge Suburban!! I bet I can bury it somewhere in there! :haha:

Thoughts?

I thought i read somewhere about wrapping copper tubing around a section of exhaust pipe and then pump water through the copper tubing while the truck is running and you have hot water. Sounds easy enough and with a burb you should have plenty of exhaust pipe you could wrap.

I would think you could put one together pretty easy/cheap, if you have some sort of a water tank.. and use an "instant hot water" deal from home depot (small, people usually put them under bar sinks).

edit: Never seen these in DC.. but power inverters are pretty cheap these days.

heat producers take a ton of Wattage, hence $$$ for a good enough inverter

Well, i have a 1000 watt invertor in my rig and have yet to find anything that it can't power up.

look for one of the hot water/MRE heaters on ebay from a hmmwv, I saw one on there a few days ago

4" PVC pipe and 1/2" copper tubing. Start cutting and putting on 90* ends. I managed to get 13' of copper tubing inside a 4" piece of PVC that was 14" long.

Biodiesel guys use a heat exchanger, gets the oil to 160 real quick, but they are 100.00
If you do a search for them, you can do a DIY copper one, they call it tube in tube. You basically stuff a 3/8 tube in a 3/4. Run the coolant through the 3/4 and the water through the 3/8, but you would probably want to do it the other way around since 160 degree water wouldn't feel nice to your girl!

I work at culligan water company, and for the RO water filtration systems we use, we have little 3 gallon tanks that have a rubber bladder inside. There is an air valve that allows you to pressurize the rubber bladder which is filled with water. Sit that sucker in the sun for an hour and you have some nice hot water. I will try to find a link to a manufacturer on Monday.

seriously dude, go for a mounted water ration heater (MWRH) or cooking/boiling unit (CBU), you cant go wrong with either. We managed to score a MWRH and the thing was a Godsend. Every time I go camping or hunting I wish it could have "disappeared" upon coming home. What I wouldnt trade for that thing right now!
