"Hotheads" sort of thing, or headliner?

I took out my burb's headliner(s) because the fabric was torn, and foamy bits were blowing everywhere. I still have the headliner backing, though it will need some work to bring it back to life.

I planned on painting the roof white anyway, but I have read about Hotheads (and other similar things) all over the place. I don't even know if I exactly understand them...but would something like those, a quilted fabric insert that would fit where the headliner went, make sense in a Suburban?

Recover the headliner. Not hard at all. No experience with hotheads.

I just had my K5 headliner recovered for $20 bucks by local interior guy that comes to dealership. I don't have time or room to mess with it
