Hey does anyone know how the wheeling is in the Houston area? I am possibly relocating from Michigan where there is lots of state/public land to wheel on. I have spent a fair amount of time in northern Texas in the past and there was minimal state/public use land for off road vehicles. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Also what can i expect for safety/emissions checks? 84 K5 on 37x12.5x16.5 thank you in advance.:thumb:

there's none. closest place is shilo ridge is alto. as long as all your lights work and horn good windshield wipers you should be fine. truck is old enough to be smog except.

Alright. I will likely be in the area of Baytown or somewhere fairly close. Thank you for the info. Are the off road parks still open in that area?

i dont know of any off road parks in the area your going to be in. what texas has is in central and north texas. might be something across the border in louisiana.

Pretty much all land in Texas is privately owned, and you have to travel from where you're going to be to get to the ones who have "offroad parks".

Thanks wasted. I did see some of those when I did a quick google search. Sounded like some of them may be closed or closing. It will definitely require some exploring to find spots to wheel. Up here you can pretty much drive 20 minutes any direction and find trails, mud, or rocks. You guys have been very helpful, thank you.

We have fun down here in Corpus but its usually by the river or down on the beach. Driving the beach to Big Shell is pretty fun

Its official....

Here is another question for those of you near Houston. I looks like I will be relocating the Houston area by August or September ane will be working in the baytown area. What are some decent areas to look for housing and not have a long drive? Also not looking to spend a $h!t load of money on a home either. Thanks in advance for any information.:thumb:

Down South, in Crosby is going to be your best bet. Real popular in the area, decent mud

Huffman isn't bad I lived there and its not too far from baytown and down south offroad is super close

I live in beaumont texas. its two hours away from Houston going towards the coast and Louisiana. Most of the offroading you are going to see is some trails but mostly just mud. Mudding is the big thing here as we have no rocks to crawl on.. you might want to look into alto or burkeville

Down South is probably your best bet, Haven't been yet but me and some friends are going on the weekend of the 13th. We used to go to Mud Land a lot till it closed down...
