8.2L 4 stroke tubo diesel in a K30??

Not sure what they weigh.

Trans could be an allison automatic and I'm sure there is someway to mate it to a 205 if you don't mind spending the dough. Or maybe there is factory parts out there who know??

Obviously you'd have to adapt some motor mounts. Not too bad there.

No computer to deal with.

What else...

I know some folks hate the 8.2's but the one in my bus runs awesome and that is one big vehicle already.

Putting it in a K30 and you could just run a divorced Tcase, easy to run behind any 2wd tranny as long as you have the wheelbase to fit it in.

Don't know anything about the motor itself though.

I hear good and bad about them. Sure seems like it'd have the umph to pull whatever you might want to pull.

My friend has one sitting on a stand in his shop.... it is a monster,,, I dont think the 60 would like it very long.... judging from the axles 8.2s normally go under the 60 is rather small..dump trucks school buses trash trucks cement mixers

In oil country... texas.. and where youre from you see alot of oddball conversions... like john deere motors..cats etc... a lot of work... some work...many dont

That is what I was most concerned about. Cummins is pretty hefty but don't really know the weight of the 8.2.

Used to get a few of those 8.2s when I worked at the Detroit dealer. Iv heard everything you could say about a motor said about them from lousy economy to underpowered and unreliable, but I know they are in a lot of trucks out there.

I don't know how much one weighed but I can say that using my precision eye calipers they certainly appeared to be a good bit larger than a 6.2/6.5 when they were sitting on the shop floor.

Some people will tell you that they are just a bigger version of the 6.2/6.5 but thats not right. They are both v8s but they are dimensionally different, physically look different and use a completely different means of fuel injection.

That being said I think they are pretty cool engines and would love to see one in a light duty truck.

I'll have to do some research. I'd sure like to know what one weighs... I've heard alot of people say they are underpowered also. Most of them were referring to NA 8.2's in large trucks. My bus seems to jump to life when you hit the skinny pedal, but of course is governed to about 62 MPH. It is also NA. I'd like to stick a turbo on it someday when I have nothing else going on (OK, that might never happen).

If I ever run across and 8.2 bolted to a pallet like i did just recently(gone now) I'm going to buy it in the event that the 6.2 gets boring.

Seems like a nice combo in a Light duty truck. 8.2 turbo diesel, Allision automatic, Divorced 205.
