The door springs on my 78 truck have been broken for many years, and I just bought 2 new ones. Do the doors need to be removed to install the springs? I don't see how the springs can go in without removing them...Tips? Thanks!

It will require one of these. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002SRE8G?smid=AVCMLLGFOHUDM&tag=shopzilla_rev_123-20&linkCode=asn

The older trucks have an S shaped torsion bar spring #20 in the photo.
It sets in a hole and slot at the top, then the bottom has to twist and slide up to get into place. Doubtful it can be done with the door on, but thought I'd see if anyone has replaced theirs before I attempt to take the door off :(
