How are Q78's on the road?

Q78 is a size. What tire you talking about swampers.

On a daily, no thanks. Rotate em often. Probably 30k out of em. Maybe. Longer trips mean more wear.

Heat kills em. Longer trips they heat up

The Q78-16LT. I think they come out to a 35" or so.

Saw a pair on an old square today on factory 16" split wheels today. Looked like some narrow TSL's and they looked really good!

I've got a buddy who ran them on his trail truck. The TSLs are super soft. I'd say 30k would be the upper limit for them. And they are loud, bias ply tires so get ready to bounce down the road till they warm up and get round again.

I wore a set pretty well out on my K5 in the 90s. It sounded like a B29 going down the road but they have some extra tread depth compared to other TSLs and if a narrow tire is right for your terrain, these are just the ticket. I had 5 of them that I rotated through and didn't keep very good track of milage but it wouldn't surprise me if it was as low as 20K. I knew a guy that burned a set of similar TSLs up in about 8K miles but it was a spooled 4 runner that he wheeled a fair bit and drove around town (Grand Junction where it's HOT in the summer) on the gas all the time.

I have a set of IROK/TSL's on my truck. They are a 'slightly' more street friendly version of the Super Swamper TSL's. What was said about rotating them more than the average tire is "true...dat". One thing good about Interco TSL tires are that they are the lowest price oversize tires you can buy compared to the price of other other brands, even though you may not get a whole lot of miles out of them.

Last set of swampers I bought I spent the extra for the radials. 1/2 highway, 1/2 dirt roads. It was worth it.

I would be surprised if you got 20k out of them even with rotation and proper maintenance (alignment, air pressure, etc...). I had a set of 13/38-16 on my K5 which would be similar in regards to be skinny with fairly deep tread. Didn't really keep good track of mileage but it was mainly a trail truck and I started trailering at least halfway through owning those tires, so would be surprised it they had 5-6k miles on them and where half worn when I got rid of them.

Won't be getting them then lol, they looked like sick ass tires on that old Chevy so I had to ask.

Thanks for everyone's input.

If you want a bias ply tire in the 35- 16 range, look at the 9.00-16 bias ply tires. They wear like IRON on the road. Deep tread cuts as well. They are nice looking tires on a square body for sure. Only problem is as mentioned, the first ten miles will be like riding over rocks till the tire heats up a little and becomes round again. I have used them a good bit on older trucks and I love them for our winter weather here.

Dude, you're the man! I'm totally gonna run some tall skinny 9.00-16 old school mudders on my flatbed dually farm truck when I convert it to 4x4. It will look awesome and fit exactly how I picture it.

If I could fit a 16" wheel on my project truck I would run them on it. I have a local tire guy that gets them for me here. They are fairly popular for farm trucks in Montana.
