I seen these at autozone, thought they looked pretty nice for 40
are they any good or will they leak?

You have to try and make centerbolt covers leak. The only reason I would see getting them is b/c they are chrome.

cheep crap!..

Most of the "spectre" brand stuff I've seen is cheesy crap, and doesn't hold up for long..many of the valve covers lack baffles for the PCV valve, and also some have no hole for the breather!..
I've seen lots of problems caused by adding "bling" valve covers on many vehicles...I'd spend the money on something more nessasary myself..or cough up the extra bucks for GOOD valve covers, like GM "Bowtie" ones,if you must have pretty ones..remember,chrome won't get ya home!...

havent had very many sets have you? all but one centerbolt cover (yes, a single cover, not the pair) that i have ever owned has leaked. i've had 6 centerbolt engines.

No kidding??? I thought that was the main advantage to having the center bolts -less leaks- oh well I have had/have only 4 engines with the centerbolts but none of them leak/ed....... from the valve covers

Spectere is junk all of there stuff holes don't line up, chrome flakes off, spend the extra money and get the good GM valve covers

beater where do your valve covers leak??? around the bolt holes ??? I have seen that. oil will seep from around the bolt onto the top of the Valve cover

On this note, what is wrong with stock valve covers? I don't know of an aftermarket v/c that enhances performance. Maybe I'm wrong. Z

The message I was trying to imply is that they dont leak, and the only way they will is if you make them leak.

I wouldnt buy any spectre crap, they carry that brand at the local kragen and its teh cheapest stuff I have ever seen. A couple of my friends have used their stuff, breathers, thermostat housings, etc.. and it is way cheap. Pony up the cash for a better set.

Oh and by the way, I have only have 3 late model motors with the centerbolt valve covers (2 with stock covers, and one with nice aluminum covers) and I havent had any leak as of yet. :dunno:

I also have not been too impressed with the quality of Spectra's stuff.... I'd pony up a touch more cash and get something decent....

Take a look here.

Especially the GM Performance Parts one here.
