ran across a piece of 2" x 8" piece of rectangular steel
tube about 6'8" long . how does that sound for a rear bumper ? /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

Depends on the wall thickness. That is the exact size box tube my rear bumper is made of though...

I made a temporary one out of a piece of 6x2 1/8th wall (mainly for practice). My next one will be 8" x 2.5" -3/16wall, with some HUGE shackle mounts that go threw the bumper and bolt directly to the frame /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

this piece happens to be 1/4" wall /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

do you have a pic of yours trustyk5?

Here is one I made out of 3"x8", I think I could have made if from 2x8 with very few changes.

Is that 1" plate you used for your recovery points? I was thinking of using 2 pieces of 3/8" but if 1 piece of 1" will work that would be great as I have a 8"x30" bar of 1" thick steel in my scrap bin.

That bumper sure looks familiar /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

Probably because you make the best looking rectangular tube bumper out there!
