Shouldn't there be a tall bolt on that bracket? I thought it was there to grab the hood in a crash? Iirc, with the hood closed, the tall bolt goes up in a hole on the hood to grab and prevent it from going back into the windshield in a wreck.

My '80 K10 didn't have the bracket at all.
You asked about a Carb spacer earlier, and I noticed it didn't really get included in the discussion.
I put used the Spacer and Salad Bowl air intake on my 350 TBI and really liked the results. I definitely could notice more low end power.
I think what you're doing with the cam, heads, etc. will help a lot more, but the spacer and salad bowl are cheap, so I would say why not while you're at it.
Yeah sorry, I prolly shouldn't have even mentioned it since what I used was for TBI. Here it is - http://marine-performance-parts.com/hypertechpowerchargerforfullsizetruckgmtbi5057.aspx
Everyone on here just refers to it as the Salad Bowl since that's what it looks like. Don't know if there's a carb version of it that you could use.
But as far as the spacer goes, I definitely liked it for my TBI.
