Now where's that whore smilie again.....

I just sandwiched mine under the part that holds the radiator in place, then welded a piece of angle iron on the bottom to keep it from flapping. Seems to work pretty well and sits in there tight, nice and easy too which is always a plus

Anyone else do it this way? Because its how I was thinking to do it too.

I couldn't get it to bolt where the factory mounts were on top...so I used L-brackets and sheet metal screws to bolt it down. Then I used a zip tie on the bottom to keep it from flapping. Works good so far...

on mine i took the part that the original shroud attached to and flattened the lip out on it with a hammer...then used the holes for the shroud as a template and drilled holes in the top of the electric fan casing and bolted it together...then used the attaching hardware you get at the parts stores for attaching electric fans(little spiny things that slide thru the radiator)...its on there tight and doesnt move a muscle

i also have the thermo fan control...my factory temp gauge goes up to the halfway mark then fans kick on and it comes back down to the 1/4 mark and stays there

im running a new 63 amp alternator and so far the volt gauge sits on about 13.5-14.0 volts even when the fan is running...no big voltage drops when they kick on either

Where are you guys hooking up the ignition power for the wiring diagram thats shown in the link?

Hummm I like Newuser`s top mounting...Now I need a good way to
do the bottom [with out a welder].

i attached my bottom using the for lack of a better word "zip strips" in this pic

LMC sells a remounting kit , just the zip ties I think , for like $25.
But im cheap and cant see paying for something Im sure I can make from junk I have laying around.

Be prepare to buy a new radiator.. Those zip ties have a rep and good chance of sawing thru your radiator.. They're notorious for it...

Used the factory shroud for mine.

Hooked it up with a 2spd toggle.
Draws 4amps on low and 10 on high through the relays.

Changed the shroud to a big block version later on due to contact, got an extra 2 inches clearance by using it.

Thats exactly why im doing something diffrent for the bottom....
$25 for the zip ties then $100 for a new rad , then Id have to do it diffrent any way :haha: No thanks.

I still think I can put "L" brackets or that strap stuff they use to hang ac ducts with to do the bottom.
Im useing the strap to hold half of my shroud now.

you'd be better off going to home depot (if you don't have a metal supplier) to their metal rack and buying some flat stock or angle iron... They usually sell 5' pieces pretty cheap.. like 6,$7..

1 1/2", 2 wide x 1/8" or something.. bendable in a vise, and stable...

always remember angles add rigidity.. thus angle iron is way stronger than flat stock... thus why I try to incorporate that idea..

Thanks...

My shroud was smashed, so it was an obvious progression for me.. It's worked awesome...

I feel silly posting my stuff on occasion... I'm highly doubting anyones gonna build something similar to that due to materials, time, whatever.... But hopefully it'll spark some ideas..
