this ring in the back? ive got to replace my lug nut studs. is there a better way?
hub socket. good auto parts place should have one.
That should just slide out. Use a magnet and a pick.
whats an alternative way?
Coat hanger with about 1/8" 90 at the tip. Paper clip and needle nose, two long skinny screwdrivers....
Needle nose pliers.
I use snap ring pliers. just grab it like a snap ring in two holes and pull'er out!
This sounds like a joke I know ... the punchline to which "so you can carry them like a sixpack" ... cough...
x2 for me works perfect best to grab at the point of the tab so it pulls stright out.
The washer with holes in it slides straight out. If you aren't familiar with it there is a small post on the front of the hub nut that sits in one of the holes so you need to get behind it with like a seal pick or screwdriver with a bend at the end. 2 of them works well and then you can get one behind on each side and jockey it out. Then hub socket on the nut after that.
In the pic it almost looks like wire around one of the tabs but I suppose it is just marks from attempts to remove it.
