My 1991 has auto hubs. How can I tell when they're going bad? I can't wait, cause I want to put on the manual style soon! I've got 141,000 miles on my rig.

Thanks!

Just replace them anyways!! I'll sell ya a new set of Superwinch locking hubs, new in the box, for $40 plus shipping.

Just change them. It is an easy thing to do and you will be alot happier. Just my $.02

What's involved in changing these out to manual hubs?

I have always been afraid to touch them for fear of opening them up and a million little parts come springing out at me! (boing!)

Are anybrands of manual hubs better than others? I see they're fairly inexpensive.

They're so cheap and easy you should do it as soon as possible ! If you can wait, you'll know they're going bad cause they'll clatter like a henhouse at sunrise ! I'd do it now , better to do it before they decide to go out and leave you stranded somewhere.
