I am trying to pull codes from my 1986 k/5 Blazer. I have done this on other cars but on this one it has no CHECK ENG LIGHT (to count flashes:eek1: ) in the inst. cluster...... and either someone cut away the data link that would be just under the dash or it never had one. Is it possible that it never had a data link? It is running poorly and those codes would sure help me.

Thanks in advance for any help.

California trucks were the only ones that had ECM's your year.

Barring the sticker on the core support, the RPO tag (I assume) or original paperwork, simply pull the air cleaner off and see if there are two electrical connections on the carb: one on the passenger side top front, one on the drivers side front. If you don't have those TWO connectors, you don't have an ECM.

You might have ESC (spark control only) but I don't know what those used for diagnosis.
