This is a dumb question, but what position do I put the t-case shifter in for 4x4? I'm thinking all the way forward is 4 low and all the way back is 4 high. I owned a 95 silverado and that's how it was, but I've never wheeled in my 75 k-5 and there's no plate showing me.

thats possible depending on what case you have. my np203 that was converted to part time is like that

What transfer case do you have?

The NP205 t-case went 4lo, Neutral, 2hi, 4hi.
The NP203(Full Time 4wd) went Low-Loc, Low, Neutral, High, High-Loc.
The NP203(2wd Conversion) went 4lo, 2lo, Neutral, 2hi, 4hi.

You are right about the 4lo all the way forward and 4hi all the way back, but sometimes its good to know what's in between.

Thanks for the help and for not laughing at me. How do I find out what the case is? I'm guessing it's not full time because I once lossed my rear u-joint on the freeway and had to lock the front hubs to baby it home. I just pushed the shifter all the way forward.

In that case it's either a 205 or a converted 203, i'm not familiar with 205's so i don't know the differences

Im sure you can tell when you are in either 3 options. 4Low will crawl very slow, 4high a little faster and 2wd. Also nuetral. Then Remember.

there are usually circular metal tags on the back side of the transfercase. or just google np203 and np205. np203 kinda looks like the 205 but it has this big square deal in front of it... also the shifters are different

So I found out it is an np203, but it's not full-time. Glad to see I made someone laugh without it being at my question. Thanks guys!
