How do I remove the engine... correctly

I think I am going to yank a 305 out of another K5 Blazer. The problem is how? These trucks sit up pretty high and I barely got the engine out of my 65 C-10. How am I going to get this engine out with an engine lift? I was thinking this...

I could drain the tire pressure or remove the front wheels once everything is unbolted. Leave just enough space to get the wheels of the engine lift to get under the truck and wha la! But I am not sure this will work.
The owner (same guy who sold me the donor body) told me we could have to take apart the front end of the truck... grill, bumper, exc. I think that might take way too much time, but I am not sure.

I've had the engine pulled twice on my K5, but it was done at places with car lifts and I wasn't around to see how they did it. I have a friend that has a car lift in his garage, but I would really prefer pulling the engine out at the owners house if possible.

What should I do here?

I've taken the front clips of trucks off to do it, not really that bad and it makes it easier in the long run. Your idea about taking the lowing the pressure is a good idea assuming it gets it low enough.

If the truck is stock, the motor will come out easy.

If its lifted, take the tires off and lower the truck down until the rotors almost touch the ground.

If its lifted really high, you'll have to remove the front clip.

I swapped the engine in my Suburban w/6" of lift and 35's without flattening the tires with a regular cherry picker. It barely cleared, but it did.

I just did this a little over a month ago. Front clip is not that bad. We got it off in like an hour and a half, allows access to everything you need. I hadn't done it this way before, but man did it make life easier

With 8in. of lift and 35's I had to lower the tire pressure to get it out but it has an 8qt. oil pan on it.
If the truck is all rusty it might be a pain to take the front end off.
Tarey

pull the front wheels off and set it down on some 2x4's under the rotors...

or if you don't like the idea of it sitting on the rotors,,put some jack stands under the axle at the lowest setting....

I have to do this when ever I pull my transmission etc...

lower your tire pressure and take the front end off. it took me about 15 min. by myself

I did the same thing 4 days ago on a 72 K5 (6" + 35s) and still had a bit of lift on the cherry picker
