How do I remove the lock cylinder from my manual tailgate window crank

I got the crank off, but need to get the lock cylinder out to put into my new one.

Should just push in the little tab that slides in and out when you turn the key. Then the cylinder will slide out. Might have to turn the key but I'm not sure
Just put a new crank on mine a few months ago and I know it wasn't too hard to remove the cylinder

Got it out, now how in the hell do I get it to lock back in place?

I'm doing that, but when I move the key, the cylinder keeps popping out.

Then it sounds like its not engaging the locking pawl all the way. Try tuning the key and seeing if the pawl slides in and out. If so then remove the key with it in the locked position (pawl in) .

That works, but when I un-lock it (pawl out), the cylinder keeps coming out.

Maybe turn the cylinder half a turn then re insert it. It might not be going in the way. Wish I could be more help but mine just went together without any thinking.
