I posted a few days ago about a wiper arm problem and here is what I need to do. I need to replace the part that moves the wiper arms that is under that steal piece between the hood and windshild. I was told this unit is up against the firewall, but I have no idea how to get to it. Also my truck is a 1990 so I don't know what my cut off year is when I go through a junkyard. Last time I was in one I found a ton of early 80s trucks, but nothing near 87 or my year 1990.

Again the part I must replace is the part that rotates the wiper arms that is attached to the cap. How do I take this off and what is it called? Sorry I cannot post pics because I really don't know what I am looking for. :o

if i remeber right you should be able to pull the vented cover sorry i cant think of its proper name off hand. I can look tommarow on my 89i belive there are some like 6 screws, then you should have access to the part in question

There are like six screws that hold the cowl on. Once it is out of the way you will see the arms that run the wipers, as well as the part in question. You may have a couple of bolts where that piece sticks through the cowl.

That appears to be the part he wanted. Thanks 4x4high, I tried looking that up but couldn't find it.

4x4High I think you hit it right on the head and thank you so much. I guess I don't have to work on as much as I thought. Now if I could simply replace the parts that attach to 29/30 that would be great, but I do not believe those caps can come off. Looks like they are a part of the assembly.

hmm, i looked for that the other day when i answered this in your other thread and couldn't find it..

they'll be 3 7/16's bolts holding it in, once you take the cowl off and the arm is held on with a clip...

The clip is my main issue, but looks like it is all in one. I'm going to a junkyard today in the windy city... this will be fun.

Thank you everyone! I replaced the whole thing and found a K5 in a yard that had the whole front gone so getting the part was easy... installing it on mine took a little longer because I couldn't tear it up. Thanks again you guys are the best!
