I'm workin on an 87 c10 w/ a TBI 350.

I'm trying to change the heatercore out in it. I have the heater box out but I cant figure out how to get the heater core out of the blowerbox. I can see how the box would come apart in 2 pieces but the 2 rods that the temperature doors ride on seem to be holding the box together.

Any tips? This is my 1st heater core on a chevy.

Thanks yall,

Dustin

IIRC, there is a clip or two or a couple screws, been a long time since I've replaced one.

Remove the box from the firewall (the inside box), which sounds like you already have done that,
no need to dissassemble the box anymore, there is a thin metal strap with screws way down in there. Sometimes grass, rats nests, sludge, whatever can obscure the screws.

the handle/rod on my door in my heater box just pulled out and allow little(but enough) access to replace the heater core

after i took the screws out of course ...91 k5 blazer(did it a few months ago)

go to the tech section in the home page... there is a whole write up on it.

Yeah I read that thing a few times before I started. I actually got the core out without droppin the inner fender. That one bolt that is dwon behind the fender is a pain in the a**

We finally got the core out of the box.

one (1) tilt front clip will help with that one!
