I have a project truck that i am working on and have an alternator off an 84 chev that i want to use, i know the stud on the back get wired straight to the battery, but what about the 2 wires that clip into the top? how do i wire them to make this work? thanks

the smaller spade wire to dash guage/light

the bigger spade wire and the bolted wire both end up at battery source either at starter with batt cable positive or just straight to pos post on batt, and loop the bolted on on back of alt with the bigger clipped wire.. use same guage wire no smaller than that and use crimp connectors

done

when you start engine then move end of a screwdriver right near center back of alternator shaft and see if it sticks to it, it should, like a magnet, if not then alt is bad or you didnt hook wires right
