I'm looking for a new set of wheels for my 99 Yukon (pics in sig) and have come across the following wheels: The black ones came off a Police Tahoe that was decomssioned and auctioned off and the new owner wanted alloys. The onwer wants $100 for the set. Not the ones pictured, but the kind that is the spare rim on newer trucks.

Or, I can get the aluminium ones from Les Shcwab for $75 a rim. I like the black, but the aluminium ones are lighter and will net (hopefully) better fuel economy (less rolling mass)

Impartially, what do you think? Thanks

i ran the aluminum rims and im not sure i would say it really helped with mpg. but i had m/t so its hard to say.
i personally like the newer style rims on the old yukons. especially the ones that arent lifted. gives a clean look. the cragars just wont look as good. IMHO.

On yours probably the alloys

Although the black wouldn't look bad either really.

I really dont' think the weight difference is going to make a lick of difference in fuel economy

Steel rims are nice. Several winters ago I was following a guy in a bronco jacked up on swampers, it was insanely slick out. He as driving as sane as he could and still slid off the road into the curb. The road was crowned really bad. BAM his tire and rim hit the curb. I stop hop out and one rim was bent leaking air. He is freaking out cause no spare. Got a hammer man? A couple of smacks on said rim and no more leak. About 100 ft in front of us a newer truck slides off the same road into the same curb. His aluminum rim cracked in half :D

I should have clarified that the black wheels were not the ones pictured, but it's basically the stock steelie that was put under the truck as the spare, or on the work truck versions. Like this one, but painted glossy black.

yea those may be alittle better than i was thinking. i was thinking of a wide rim and tire. that would look good to!

Police wheels :D

Then tint the focker out :D

Seriously though.. I doubt you'll see any increase in fuel economy between steelies and alloys, and the police wheels look good.

Yeah, I just bought them. He (junkyard man) wanted $200 bones for them. I told him I had $100 cash in my pocket for them, and he laughed, so I went to the stealership, got a quote from them for the wheels ($30 a piece, from the stealership!) took it back, he relented for $125 for the set. Now I has police wheels for my truck.:D I hope to get them mounted tomorrow, right after I wash and wax them.

looks mean  Loving the rig man.

on a side note, anyone ever put these on an older rig?? I wanted to put the 5 spoke version on one of my half tons, but never knew back spacing was right or if any lugs were even available.
