I busted the glass on my drivers side vent window while trying to oil the hinges to get it swinging smooth. So now I have a bigger problem. Should I buy replacement glass, or just make one out of plexiglass?

Anyway... current problem is... how do you disassemble the vent window handle so I can put it on the new glass?

that little roll pin? needs to be pounded out, then pieces will come apart, then inside the cap you'll see a phillips or torx screw, remove that and the rest will come apart.

i take these apart all the time when i tint windows, makes for a cleaner tint job. :D

Is that pin hollow? I was able to stick a real small allen wrench right through the hole. I'm not home right now, so ill look at it again later.

Thanks

Its a roll pin and its hollow. you just get something to punch it out, there is no unscrewing it, etc. Once you put the new pin in you need to flare out the ends so the pin doesnt "walk" on you as you open and close the window. The pin needs to be a tight fit.

Can you just grab a vent window from a salvage yard? It would already have the handle it, most likely.

But yeah, taking it apart is self-explanatory once you drive the roll pin out.

I'm sure I once bought a complete handle assembly new at a local parts store. IIRC, it wasn't very expensive.
