How do you get the brake calipers off of a Dana 60????

They are on the caliper somewhere. I havn't delt with enough D60's to remember everything about them offhand. I have spent to long fighting the D60 trend to learn alot about them, Sorry. I have seen it done once or twice but not in a year or two now.

Do you have a picture of the caliper from the side? I could probably help then, but someone else can probably help you too.

here's a couple of pictures from my question on the same topic. Hope these help a little. Now maybe someone can explain it a little better. I still really haven't played with it so I still don't know how they work

Take the only allen bolt on the caliper out, drive the clip out with a screwdriver and a hammer, and you're good to go. If the pictures already posted aren't enough I can zip a bogger off of mine if you need me to.

MTNman:

You have a set of shims (things with 2 holes in them) and springs (wavy flat metal piece) there. One shim and one spring for each side (one of the shims is broken but will still work fine).

You insert the caliper. The shim goes with the holes outside and the spring lays on top of the shallow side of the shim. You slide the shim onto the bottom of the brae bracket that is already on the axle. Keep the spirng on the shim (the little tab ears on the spring catch the outside of the shim). Tap the shim/spring in till is sits flush with the bracket on both sides and insert the allan bolt. Done.

I remember my first time....

GAHHHHHH it is tough.... but yes... you take the allen screw out.. bang out the wedge with wavey metal....

if you think it is interesting trying to get them out.... that is always the easy part... wait till you try to put it back together...:haha:

If the caliper is loose I think you can get thicker shims . I know you can for a Dodge.
