i just aqquired a 75 k5 and the turn signal stalk is loose. I know its just one screw and can see it but need to get the wheel removed to do so. i took of the horn cap and removed the 3 screws for the horn contact and the nut the goes on the steering shaft. what else is required to get it off? any help and or pics would be great. thanks everyone.

A steering wheel puller.

The steering wheel is pressed onto a splined shaft. It's typically not a super tight fit a puller gets it off quick and easy. Not very expensive and you should be able to find one at most parts stores. See here for pics

Ok cool. Let me ask you is it possible to do it without using the puller? I ask because I don't have one and can't get my hands on one for a few days possibly. Thanks for the help

Loosen the nut till it is flush with the threads on the shaft, get your knees behind the wheel and push out on the bottom of the wheel while pulling with one hand on the top of the wheel. sharply hit the nut with a hammer. Should pop right off.

Make sure you hit the correct nut!:haha:

I've used this trick many times at the local PNP when removing steering wheels to buy. Works every time.
