Hello,
I will be looking in the junk yards in the morning. Well I need to know the best way to tell the NP205 T-case from the other T-cases.
Thanks
Adam

ORD has a pic HERE

Assuming you're only looking at GM cases the quick easy's are - cast iron case and a 3 bolt cover plate in the center of the back side of the case a little over 2" in diameter.

There are no Rockwell T221s in 73-87 GM pickups.

True but he never said he was looking strictly in 73 and up, and virtually all 70-72 trucks, k5's, and burbs have the 205, unlike 73 up where its a mixed bag.

Sorry, I forgot to add common sense to the post along with the drain plug and cast iron case. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

The NP203 case is cast iron too--and the one most likely to give you a hernia--followed closely by the almost as heavy NP205--when I bought the NP208 for a spare for my diesel,I was suprised how light it was compared to the other 2 just mentioned!.
If your lucky there will still be a tag riveted to the case--NP205's usually have it located above the front driveshaft--it will have the model# and ratio listed on it.Happy boneyard hunting--hope it hasnt snowed up there yet!. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

1) heavy as hell
2) small 3-bolt cover thingy just to the right of the rear output
3) cast iron
4) fixed yokes (unless its a 1980... but you dont want that slip yoke [censored] anyway)
