The black wing-looking bumper brackets that connect the back bumper to the frame itself seems like a bitch to get out. Any tips? Also what is with the weird square shaped nuts inside of the frame? I can't get any tool I own in there to loosen them.

You shouldn't need any tool insidethe frame, just an impact on the bolt heads outside. You've soaked them with penetrating oil, right?

Oh they've been very soaked for the last day. I'm just confused why square nuts would be there to begin with. By the looks of it no previous owners have ever taken the back brackets off. The front brackets/front bumper are off though. Just the back is confusing me, on how to extract it since its ultra stiff.

Are the square nuts supposed to be welded? I am confussed and wish my truck was here so I could look. I recently had the bumper off and had no issues.

I have no idea if they should be welded, I'd guess not. Because that would be weird, in my opinion.

So that's inside the frame, square-ish nuts which hold in the frame-to-bumper brackets that I need gone. This isn't OEM material is it?
