hi guys-the box says these are zero degree sleeves-are we able to change the angle of the tire with these? or are they just to pick up slack in the joint as they wear?-----1/2 ton sub Thanks-

The sleeve is there to take up the manufacturing tolerances in the axle. In your case it is a zero degree shim which has no alignment adjustment.

To adjust you replace the ball-joint and then tighten the sleeve with the proper tool to 50 ft/lbs. Then you install the upper ball-joint nut and tighten to factory spec.

Once set, there is no further adjustment necessary. If the ball joint wears to the point of the sleeve no longer tight (slop in the joint) then the joint has reached the end of its service life and needs to be replaced.

Cheers,

Rufus

That sleeve is for preloading the upper ball joint. You will need this tool to make the adjustment. http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item...&group_ID=1630&store=snapon-store&dir=catalog

If the adjustment is too loose you will ruin a ball joint quickly, too tight and the steering won't want to "return to center" too easily.
