What is the fastest speed you guys have ever taken your trucks? Not necessarially the 1/4 mile but if you have ever had an open stretch of highway to go wide open. :D


My truck has just broke the 100mph mark today.
That is pretty good for an over 5000 pound truck with the areodynamics of a brick.
The truck has a 305 HO, SM465 so no overdrive, and 4.10 ratio with 35"s.
 
75-80...haven't driven it much, and now my piston rings are shot so I won't know for a while. And besides, my truck's kinda scary at that speed.
 
In my 97, about 90 or so, but my old truck, this probly don't count cause it's 2wd but, well, the speedo went to 85, then it would go back around, I had it to 35 and still had anothe gear left. Man I miss that truck....

How do you know it broke 100? What does your speedo read? I have pegged mine on 85 (max reading) but I don't know how much faster than that it will go.
 
prolly 90-95 in the 94 blazer (pegged speedo on inside of dash cluster)

98 where the governer was in teh 96 burb (it stopped giving it fuel)

somewhere aroune 125 in teh 528i sport (will never do that again, but safe stable car to do it in!)
 
When I was 16 my speedo didn't work. My girlfriend lived 100 miles away, and I would push the pedal down as far as it would before downshifing into 3rd from overdrive. I also had 3.08's and 33's.:doah:

Going fast in a lifted brick, I see no point.
 
I drove 80 all day down the freeway today and that's only 2300rpm. I have had mine to 100, but I usually run out of bravery before horsepower.

My speedo don't work because the cable melted on the exhaust, so I did the math out and it says that around 4150rpm or so is 100mph. I decided to back off because I didn't want to throw a rod or something trying to get to the red line in top gear. Doubt anything would have happened but you never know.
 
alright. its kinda a long story. my grandmother was driving my grandfathers 88 suburban (mine now) :). my bro and i were behind her in my bros exploder with the v8. you have to remember that this burb was converted to 4wd back in 92. and its been beatin. bad... anyways on our way home from new mexico to our home in south texas. my grandmother gets impacient and floors it. not only is the truck shaking (you can see it) but its swerving back and forth. its lifted 4 inches. we start after her. and we passed the 100 mph mark on our speedometer and she was getting away. she got that thing up to 105! just think how much gas that thing is burning trying to go even faster. anyways the fastest ive gottent the burb up to was 75. it was shaking so bad that i slowed it to 60. im not old enough to not care about a car crash of death!!! so im not that crazy.
 
71 C20 - 60 I baby that thing
96 Blazer - 95(damn computer cutout)
83 K10 - Dunno Speedo stops at 85 but I had the needle back to 0
86 C10 - Also Dunno Speedo stops at 85, dont remember how far around I had the needle coming on that truck it hasnt moved since I was 16...go figure
 
I am not completely sure, but according to the speedo (which worked at the time) it was well over the top of the speedometer (100 mph). Since the 383, I dunno, 90-95 maybe :dunno:. I guess I'm older and wiser now :haha:
 
i got mine up to 80 with 350tbi/700r4/5.13's and 39.5's. i was getting a wooping 12mpg on the highway....pretty sweet haha
it does need a tune up
 
Never above 70mph, officer. :whistle:

My k5 back a while ago with the 4" lift and 33s i was too scared to push much past 70.
82 scottsdale shortbox wouldn't go more than 65
03 SLK320 -> gov kicks in at 155. ask me how i know. thought i broke something. did 145 with the top down. I think that's a CAT4 hurricane when you stick your hand up over the windsheild.
 
haha i passed my dad in his 1990 454 SS with my 71, going around 85-90, i love 3.73s!!!
 
100 before lift and with 31's, 4 wheel drum brakes and horrible steering.

Never tried since I lifted it. About 75 to 80 recently. Like already mentioned no point.

Oh and it was on a closed course with permission sir, dates, times, and locations withheld to protect the guilty
