How Fast?

Only about 70 mph. Lots of wind noise, so the windows went up. It drove pretty cushy on smooth I-80.

However, I usually prefer to take the less scenically boring and slower State highways, set the cruise to 50 or 55 and just motor along with the windows down, looking for some little place I've never been before.

My buddy and I raced a jeep xj one stupid night when we were young in his '86 K5 [4", 35's, goodwrench 305, 700r4, stock gearing] We killed the XJ, then eventually slowed down and he passed us, he stopped and told us we were doing 110 and still pulling. Fastest I've had any of mine is probably 80 ish on the interstate. Steering gets kinda hairy at that speed though.

About 60 but that was downhill with the throttle pegged. lol

It will only do about 55 to 60 @ wot right now. If I had 10 miles and no cars getting in my way (and no worries for my life) it would probably hit 90 or so, those 3.08's and 37's just keep on spooling up. ;)

Ive maxed my spedo out + 10mph cant stand the shaking past that

305ho 700r4 3.08 and un balence 31s

ol blue starts to rattle herself apart at about 60, so not much faster than that.

ask the computer how fast the other two have been though.

i broke 100 racing a z71 lol his truck cut out so i beat him, back when i had 31's and a new motor.

185mph.........................................................on my CBR900RR ;)

Never above 70mph, officer.

My k5 back a while ago with the 4" lift and 33s i was too scared to push much past 70.
82 scottsdale shortbox wouldn't go more than 65
03 SLK320 -> gov kicks in at 155. ask me how i know. thought i broke something. did 145 with the top down. I think that's a CAT4 hurricane when you stick your hand up over the windsheild.

On my 145 run, i passed a sport bike of some sort who was doing probably 100+. Surprised the heck out of him too to get passed by something on 4 wheels.

My hat's off to anyone with the cajones to run triple digits on 2 wheels.

At 150mph on a bike it gets creepy calm. Canna explaint it really but anyone thats done it knows what I'm talking about.

On my old 35's with 3.73's I managed 104 mph on a long empty stretch of highway at 3 in the morning (after work) Took a while to get there, and when i let up off the gas I almost ate the windshield...so much wind resistance I didn't need brakes to get down to a sane speed.

With the 6.2 and 39.5's I've had it up to 80 a couple of times (according to my GPS) but the tires shake a bit much for my liking at that speed. The sweet spot used to be about 64 mph...

We'll see how it is with the 5 speed and some 37" mall terrains on it.

I cruise at 75 in the Burb on long trips, but probably never had it over 80. Ran a Ninja around 140 while in school. I have had my curret DD up over 130. It limits at 155 which is too fast.

gps confirmed 108 a while back on I-80 in the Utah west desert. The ole HT383 was just purring like a kitten. It was sucking down the motion lotion like mad though.

110 going downhill with 4.56's and 35's. Was side by side with a friend in a durango so he could actually see the speed as opposed to the whole "above 85" thing...

I dont dare!..

I keep my 4x4's under 85 mph--and even at that speed they didn't "feel" safe!--my tires are used take offs from a boneyard, and none are "hi speed balanced"...all my GM 4x4 trucks started shaking after 85 mph,and I had no desire to be a stain on the road!...my 72 K5 hit 100 mph once, but who knows how accurate the speedometer was..I had to see if my newly installed SM465 made any difference in acceleration--it did,but only on takeoffs!..I would not trust any 4x4 over 85 mph much..they just aren't designed for high spped safety...and a lifted truck?..even WORSE!..

I think the fastest I've ever driven any of my cars or trucks was my 69 GTO--I once had a Barracuda pull up beside my goat on the highway, and the guy was flooring it and letting off, like he was enticing me to race!..then he got behind me,so close I couldn't see his headlights!..

I floored the GTO,wound it up over 100 mph in second gear (TH400 with 4.10 gears!)--and I held it there until third gear ran out..the speedo was buried at 130 mph!--and the car was shaking so bad I thought it would fly apart!:eek1: --the Barracuda was WAY behind, and he exited the highway behind me--must have been embarrased!..

My Ford Contour isn't any slouch either--despite it having a tiny 2.5 "Duratech" V6,it puts out 170 HP!--it has a 4 speed overdrive automatic, and 3.77 gears..its doggy under 2500 rpm (which is the RPM its at when doing 70 mph!)..but floor it,and that little motor winds up like a chainsaw!--the redline is 6200 rpm on the tach!:eek1: ---I've beaten a few Mustang GT's off the line with it!...:D

I was boxed in by two 18 wheelers in a construction zone about a week ago,and nearly got squashed in it!--so as soon as the lanes opened up,I booted it,and held it to the floor...it wasn't long before the headlights of those trucks looked like they were miles away--when I looked at the spedometer,it was over 110 mph,the tach said 3500 rpm!...I have no doubt it would bury the needle at 130 mph,I had plenty of pedal left!..but I was about to stain my shorts, the car was shaking pretty badly..my front wheel bearing is a bit noisy,so I thought it was unwise to be going that fast..and it felt more like 200 mph for whatever reason--I guess smaller cars "feel" faster!..

I rarely speed, unless road conditions make it a lifesaving manuver--I prefer to go 60-70 tops..so just about everything else passes me on the highways..

yikes 10b's 3.08s and 37's :screwy: :yikes: :shame: :doah: :eek1:  :haha:

get my drift :wink1:

Ya so am I like the only one who's truck don't really shake going 100mph? I guess it might be from newer wheel bearings and pached with grease real good. Also I think the All Terrains radials, propperly balanced and infated help a lot too. :D

diesel4me: I guess you're "that guy" in the slow lane. ;) :haha:
HAHA just kidding... :D

Oh I just thought of something...
Maybe its my sway bar?

Yes its still there...

Oh man thanks a ton, nobody has pointed that out to me for the past 7 months that I have had the truck. Phew I better go get that fixed right away.

ive had mine at 113 with my friends mustagn next to me then i ran out of road with 3.08 and 33s. so now im waiting to see if it will go a little more when i get my 4.10 in it. i dont think it real smart though with about 2 inch of play in the steering wheel gets really scary when you start to stop.

Unless you can rack up quite a few more rpms your going to go slower buddy.

With your setup it took 3543.7 rpm's to go 113 (on paper) with 4.10's and the same tires it would take 4717.2 rpm's!
